What Is Mindfulness?

It means to be totally present in the moment, paying attention to our thoughts, body sensations, emotions, and surroundings without judgment.

Practicing Mindfulness enables us to be present with clarity, compassion and trust. It helps us to expand our self-knowledge, to develop and enhance the "observer" within. The "observer" allows us to notice our thoughts and the physical reactions to our emotions. We can manage our emotions instead of identifying with them. As a result, our emotional intelligence expands fostering positive growth.

Our well-being is affected by our thoughts and belief system. Thoughts and beliefs are more powerful than we realize. They affect how we feel and how we act. Our life circumstances mirror our inner world: our thinking, beliefs and feelings. Therefore, improving the quality of our lives requires us to identify and transform our distorted beliefs.

As Norman Vincent Peale stated: "Change your thoughts and you'll change your world". And as Albert Einstein sagely observed: "We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them".
